Coromandel Valley Solar Fire – Solar Panel Fires

Coromandel Valley Solar Fire

Coromandel Valley Country Fire Service in South Australia responded to a house fire started by a DC arc fault on a tradition DC solar system.

Crews were forced to cut a hole in the ceiling below the burning roof timbers to fully access the seat of the fire.  Other crews climbed onto the roof to carefully extinguish and disconnect each of the burning solar panels, and isolate the entire solar system.

Damage will likely be around $5 to $10k however if not for the quick action by the crews on scene the whole roof space or the house may have easily been totally lost.
